In February 2018 Coventry Dresden Arts Exchange had its reciprocal exchange with Dresden, the Coventry painter Jack Foster came to Dresden, living and working in Dresden artist Christian Mass’ studio, who also organised meetings with other artists, studio visits and a show case of Jack’s work at the end of his residency.
Jack visited Dresden museums and Galleries, including the Albertinum and Zwimmer. He appropriated some of the Old Masters’ paintings from the Zwimmer in his work. Also visiting Malerweg the Painters Way in the Saxon Switzerland National Park famous for its dramatic sand stone peaks, deep gorges and iconic Bastei Bridge in a 10 degree mid winter!
Jack Foster is a graduate of Coventry University where he now teaches. Winner of the Coventry Drawing Prize in 2013 and Coventry Open at the Herbert Art Gallery and Museum in 2018.
